93 movies will be shown
at the First Ural Festival
In «Rossijskaya Gazeta’s» newsroom was held a press-conference devoted to the upcoming opening of the First Ural opened Festival of Russian Cinema.
The Festival will be held in Yekaterinburg and other cities of Sverdlovsk Oblast from 21th to 27th September.
In the press-conference tool part a famous Russian director Alexander Mitta, a head of the festival, a chairman of Sverdlovsk organization of Russian Cinematographers Union Vladimir Makeranets and program director of the Festival, cinema critic of «Rossijskaya Gazeta» Valeriy Kichin.
The program of the screening which was supposed to «return audience’s trust in Russian cinema» includes 93 films divided into several sections, among which are retrospectives of Andrey Tarkovsky, Eldar Ryazanov, Vladimir Motyl and Alexander Mitta.
All the films will be shown for free in nine cinemas of Yekaterinburg and in seven cinemas of Oblast. «We will progressively introduce Russian Cinema to viewers» - promised Makeranets. He also emphasized that the Festival is positioned as being made for people. A lot of great works of talented young directors will be shown, for example, 20 short-film debuts.
Valeriy Kichin in his speech about the history of cinema emphasized to examples on which the Uralcinemafest is based. The first is Moscow International Film Festival in his best times, the second is the festival in Toronto. Vladimir Menshov was chosen as a head of the jury. It also includes cinema critic Elena Stishova, cameraman Sergey Astakhov, producer Elena Duffort and director Alexey Fedorchenko. Except the usual awards, including Audience Choice Award, a special prize for Best Film of «Rossijskaya Gazeta» was established.
