The adaptation of the play by A. Chekhov

Russian countryside. «Existence is tedious, it is a senseless, dirty business…»  The unrequited love of Uncle Vanya for the woman, whom the fate has brought to the crumbling country estate, adds up to his disappointment and desolation. The hysteria of a member of the Russian intelligentsia, who has not become a Dostoevsky or a Schopenhauer, does not surprise the viewer. Since we, Russians, are always ready for catastrophes and always soothe ourselves with an elusive hope for the future – «we shall see heaven shining like a jewel…»
