A director of photography, camera director. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2014).

He worked as a second assistant camera in the Mosfilm studio since 1980. In 1987, he made his first feature film the Fording Point.  He has been a member of the Union of Cinematographers since 1988. He was awarded the Grand Prix at the first All-Union Film Festival of the Visual Mastership in the Cinema in Yekaterinburg (the film The Sphinx) in 1990.  The film Encore, Once More Encore!, made by Yury Raysky, won the Best Film Nika Award in 1992. The TV series Law of the Lawless, made by him in 2002, won the Best TV series TEFI and the Golden Eagle Awards. In 2012 Yury Raysky got the Best Film Photography Award (the film Siberia, Monamour) at the Monaco Charity Film Festival in Monaco. In 2013, he won the Best Cinematography Golden Eagle Award (the film The Horde).

In 1993 collaborating with Dyomin, Lyubshin, Machilsky and Shaygardanov, he founded the Association of Russian Cinematographers .

From 1999 to 2000 he was the main cameraman of the channel Kultura.

A member of the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts and Sciences (the Nika Award) and the National Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences of Russia ( the Golden Eagle Award).

A member of the Asia Pacific Screen Academy.
